may need. It was created after I received numerous inquiries requesting information
about what programs are needed for various file formats found on this Web site.
I have tested all of these programs under Windows 95/98/NT4/XP/2003 and have found them to
be safe and reliable but can not be held responsible or liable for how they will behave

I strongly recommend that you install the NoScript JAVA filter to protect yourself from harmfull scripts that you may come across.

A free open source file packer/unpacker for RAR, ZIP, ARJ, ARC, LZH, TGZ and most other compressed file types.
PeaZIP
A free open source cross platform file packer/unpacker for RAR, ZIP, ARJ, ARC, LZH, TGZ and most other compressed file types.
WinRAR
A commercial file packer/unpacker for RAR, ZIP, ARJ, ARC and TGZ files, this is the one I use.
Adds some convient features to the action menu when you right click on a file that provides great ways to pack, unpack or view files.
UnTGZ
Self extracting file containing an unpacker for TGZ files. Note that you can simply rename most .TGZ files to .ZIP and process them like normal ZIP files.
Many browsers will rename this self extracting .ZIP file to a .TGZ suffix when you download it. If that happens to you simply rename it to UNTGZ095.ZIP and run it
or rename it to UNTGZ095.ZIP and UnZip it!
PowerZIP
Unpacker for ARJ, RAR, TAR, CAB, GZ and ZIP format files
GOM Player
Simply the best media player that I have found. Plays almost every media type that there is, including RealMedia & DVD's, using it's own internal CODEC decoder. Will even play broken media files, which often happens with AVI's!
Microsoft Media Player
The latest Microsoft Windows Media Player directly from Microsoft. Plays ASF, ASX, RA, RAM, RM RMM, AVI, MOV, QT, MPG, MPEG, M1V, MP2, MPA, MPE, MID, RMI, AIF, AIFC, AIFF, AU, SND and WAV format files.
AcDsee
Simply the best Windows image viewer around. Supports almost all graphic image formats. You will probably want to make this your default image viewer.
PowerFlic
FLC/FLI format movie player
EZ Media
A great player for AVI, MPEG, MPG, MPE, MPV, QT and MOV format movies
QM Player
The only Windows based QM file format movie player that I have been able to find. The installation is all in Japanese. Just keep pressing the ">>>" style button during the install and it will work fine. This will not show up in your programs folder but will automatically become the default player for .QM format files.
VIVo Player
VIVo movie player for VIV format files. This will automatically plug in to your browser when you install it.
DL Viewer
DL movie file viewer. This is actually a DOS based viewer but I have found it to work fine under Windows.
GL Viewer
The Grasp GL format movie viewer. This is also a DOS based program that works OK under Windows. I strongly recommend installing GLShell also to make this easier to use.
GLShell for Grasp
A shell (menu) program for the Grasp GL movie viewer. Be sure that you install GRASP in a pathed directory (ie - c:/windows) and use your F5 key to toggle between languages in this shell.
QVPro Viewer
Quick View Pro is a DOS based DL, FLI and FLC format movie viewer that works well in Windows.
AVI Joiner
PECK'S POWER JOIN 1.1b - A Windoze utility that will combine .AVI format movies
MPG Joiner
Camel's MPEGJoin 1.0.5 is a small Windows utility to combine MPEG files
FTP Client
FileZilla, a good open source FTP client. This is the one I use.
